POLISHED CONCRETE

Elite Polished Concrete is the perfect choice for all your polished concrete flooring needs. Whether it's for a home or a commercial building, we provide hard wearing floors with different types of finishes for an aesthetic floor that requires extremely low maintenance.

Concrete Placement

Typical build up of a conventional Polished concrete floor. Concrete has great thermal qualities and holds heats for a long amount of time after the underfloor heating system has been turned off.

For domestic interior purposes our floors are placed at 100mm depth using conventional concrete with a high strength mix.

The concrete has a 15-28 day curing time to reach its designed strength before any processing of the floor can be started  depending on the finish required.

The following day expansion joints must be placed in the slab to reduce the risk of movement cracks occurring. These are measured and placed dependant of the floor plan and placed in areas such as internal doorways and large rooms where the floor will see the most movement as the slab expands and contracts.

The Polishing

The polishing processes we use are known as mechanical polishing. We use many different methods to achieve a polished concrete floor dependant of finish and current concrete condition.

Typical times spent onsite can be anywhere from 3 days to 4 weeks depending on the size of the area and finish. Some existing surfaces may require additional work before the polishing process the ready the floor such as repairs or coating removal.

The polishing of the floor is achieved by a series of grinding and honing stages with a final coat of sealer to help against spills and stains. After the final stage the floor will be foot traffic ready in 12 hours and can return up to 20 years of life with minimal maintenance.
