We carried out a extensive renovation on a failed existing floor at the Wyre Forest Café for GoApe replacing it with a Polished Concrete Overlay
The floor previously had a self levelling compound poured over concrete and brickwork that had delaminated & cracked due to poor surface prep of the subfloor.
Removing the failed floor we used diamond grinding that also keyed the subfloor as part of our prep for a 10mm Rapidset Tru Overlay.
Two large skips were needed to remove brick paving that had been laid as part of the external patio area and entrance hall had been placed in the front internal part of the building, this was then filled back up to level with a 10mm high strength concrete.
Expansion joints were cut to prevent future cracking and help with the movement of the subfloor and a Epoxy primer was applied to the surface to create a damp proof membrane and high strength bond for the new overlay to prevent the possibility of future delamination.
Tru Rapidset in Grey was laid over the course of a day at a average thickness of 10mm. This product has been specially formulated to be polished and with very quick curing times of just 12-24hours. This product has extremely high curing strengths that surpass conventional concrete meaning after polishing work has been completed these floors are extremely hard to damage.
The polishing specs for this floor were guided by us as a contractor and the decision was to mechanically polish the floor to 400grit with a burnishing system up to 3000 grit. This offered a floor with plenty of grip for customers coming in during winter months with wet muddy footwear with very low maintenance cleaning.
